Pulkapulkka Kari is located in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory. It covers Tennant Creek and the surrounding communities and is managed by the Director of Nursing leading a staff of approximately 25 individuals, including Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Personal Care Assistants, Housekeeping, Clerical and Catering staff.
It was established by Frontier Services in the original Nurses Home at the Tennant Creek District Hospital and was rebuilt on the present site in 1990.
Pulkapulkka Kari provides both nursing home and hostel care to 19 aged people from the Tennant Barkly region and provides respite. It is the only service in this region; the closest services are located in Alice Springs 500 kilometres away. The majority of the client group are Indigenous Australians.
