Centralian Patrol
Alice Springs, Northern Territory
The Centralian Patrol is based in Alice Springs and covers a vast area of the southern part of the Northern Territory . It covers an area of 503,750 square kilometres, from the Qld to W.A. borders and from the S.A. border to Ti Tree in the North. Reverend John Boundy is the patrol minister, and this is now an aerial patrol.
There are over 100 pastoral stations, with 14 Aboriginal stations, small settlements, roadhouses, six small mining communities and two large gold mines within the Centralian Patrol. Uluru/Kings Canyon area is visited with services for staff/tourists being conducted.
While the boundaries have changed, this patrol ministry dates back to 1913 when Rev Bruce Plowman spread the ministry north of Oodnadatta with the help of camels.
Rev John Boundy provides liturgical and sacramental ministry, pastoral care, counselling and grief counselling in times of accidents and injury at mines and pastoral stations. He is a member of Flynn Memorial, offers chaplaincy to the RFDS and shares with both Frontier Services staff and other Uniting Church agencies in the region. |
