Children and Family Services

DSC 0390_RAFSLiving and working in remote Australia can put tremendous pressure on families - financial concerns, drought, lack of medical services, schooling, absence of extended family support.

Frontier Services provides a range of practical programs that focus on helping families with children, particularly those under the age of five. Our staff seek to develop a sense of community and provide opportunities for interaction and support to children and parents living in remote areas.

The Remote Area Families Services (RAFS) operate across the whole of remote Queensland and the Barkly Tablelands of the Northern Territory, serving over 1,000 families. The Remote Family Care Service provides up to three weeks of care at home for families who have at least one child under the age of five and no access to mainstream services.

Additionally, Frontier Services operates the In Home Care program which allows families who have no other access to child care to be able to employ a carer to live on site with them in order to provide this essential service.

Student Group Homes enable isolated families to send their children to schools in town. They are "home away from home" during school term with houseparents overseeing all their needs.
