Broken Hill, NSW.
In previous years, the NSW Board of Mission conducted a flying patrol from Broken Hill.
In 2010 the responsibility for the Patrol and the plane passed to Frontier Services. The style of ministry has been modified to reflect the understanding of ministry that has been in vogue with Frontier Services, and previously the Australian Inland Mission for almost 100 years.
The new Patrol Minister undertakes a combination of road and air patrols from Tibooburra in the north to Pooncarie in the south and from the SA border in the west to Ivanhoe in the east.
While the mine dominates the skyline in Broken Hill and is still active, there are many pastoral properties (predominantly sheep) as well as tourism ventures, and opal mining across the region. Broken Hill is also a hub for film making.
The Patrol Minister is also involved in school chaplaincy to very isolated schools, and prison chaplaincy at Ivanhoe.
Excellent working relationships have been established with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Broken Hill.
Significant rain in the past two years has changed the country remarkably.
