Cobar, NSW.
A new patrol was established in May 2010 including half time ministry to the towns of Cobar and Nyngan, and half time patrol to the region from Bourke in the north to Hillston in the south, and from Emmdale in the west to Nevertire in the east. In commencing this patrol, Frontier Services has for the first time a patrol ministry in NSW. This has now been complemented by a second patrol based in Broken Hill.
The partnership between Frontier Services and the Presbytery of Macquarie Darling is working well. The NSW Synod and its predecessor structures had various patrol type arrangements in previous years through this area.
While often experiencing long dry periods and occasional sustained droughts, the patrol area has enjoyed significant rainfall in the past two years which has transformed the country and buoyed the spirits of those who live in the area.
Mining, pastoral pursuits and agriculture are the focus of much of the activity in the patrol region.
The Patrol Minister is also involved in Emergency Services Chaplaincy.
