Stepping Stone - Katherine

Katherine, Northern Territory.

Stepping Stone is a Recuperative Care Unit located in Katherine in the Northern Territory. The unit is the first of its kind in the Northern Territory, and has been developed by Frontier Services as an extension to the services offered at its Rocky Ridge facility.

Stepping Stone provides up to eight weeks residential care in shared rooms and a further eight weeks in-home care to help people get back on their feet in the community. It means that frail elderly people, who may have previously needed to go into a nursing home or hostel after being discharged from acute care in a hospital, are now more likely to return to their own homes.

Stepping Stone was opened in March 2004.
