Rocky Ridge is located in Katherine in the Northern Territory. It is managed by the Director of Nursing leading a staff of approximately 25 individuals, including Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Personal Care Assistants, Housekeeping, Clerical and Catering staff.
The facility was opened in 1990. It was established by the Katherine branch of the Australian Red Cross to provide care for elderly people who otherwise would be forced to leave their home and move away to receive care. Frontier Services became the approved provider in 1992 following the withdrawal of Red Cross. The service provides care for 26 residents. At least two-thirds of the residents are Indigenous.
Rocky Ridge also auspices the Katherine Transport Service for aged and disabled community members and provides transitional care (from hospital to home) and respite care.
