Savannah Region, Queensland.
The Savannah Regional Health Service was opened in 2004 and is based in Georgetown. It is staffed by two Primary Health Care Nurses and a Resource Officer.
The service provides regular clinic services in the towns of Mt Surprise, Einasleigh and The Lynd, as well as health promotion and education programs to properties and townships across the Croydon and Etheridge Shires.
The objectives of the Regional Health Service are to improve the health and well being of people in rural Australia and improve access to quality primary health care services.
It is part of the Commonwealth Government’s response to the health workforce crisis, particularly as it pertains to rural and remote Australia.
