West Nullarbor Patrol
Esperance, Western Australia
The West Nullarbor Patrol is based in Esperance , WA . The incumbent is Reverend Rob Dummermuth. The patrol ministry is a shared ministry with the Esperance congregation.
This is a huge patrol area covering much of the Nullarbor. The east boundary is the border between Western Australia and South Australia . The northern boundary is approximately 60 kilometres north of the Trans Australian Railway line. The western boundary is about 40 kilometres west of the Coolgardie Esperance Highway , excluding the Kambalda, Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie townships. The southern boundary is the coastline of the Great Australian Bight .
The patrol area includes a number of small communities along the Eyre Highway , the Coolgardie Esperance Highway as well as the Trans Continental Railway Line. These communities are mostly associated with tourist facilities. Along the Trans-continental rail line there are more station properties, plus mining operations and Aboriginal Communities. Rob also has contact with road and rail maintenance crews and emergency services, police, fire and land and sea rescue.
At the Western end of the area are the more (comparatively) closely settled broadacre farms of the WA Wheatbelt, these bridge between the towns (Esperance, Condingup and Norseman), and the patrol, giving a very varied ministry. |
